CELLULITE

WHAT IS CELLULITE?

Did you know that studies have shown that cellulite affects nearly 80% of all women? But what is cellulite? While cellulite is easily associated with being overweight, that’s not actually the case. Cellulite is not fat. Cellulite is caused by fibrous tissues that connect the skin to the underlying muscle layer. Between the skin and the muscle is a layer of fat. This fat can push against those connective tissues, causing them to pull the skin downward, resulting in the dimpled or“cottage cheese” appearance of cellulite. There are lifestyle and health factors that contribute to how much cellulite you have and how visible it is. By managing these factors, you may be able to reduce the appearance of cellulite. These factors include:

  • Poor diet or fad diets
  • Lack of exercise
  • Slow metabolism
  • Dehydration
  • Hormonal changes
  • Total body fat

WEIGHT LOSS

Bottom line: Extra weight can make cellulite more visible. For some people, losing weight and staying at a healthy weight reduces the amount of cellulite they see. If you develop loose skin while losing weight, however, cellulite can become more noticeable.

EXERCISE

Bottom line: Having more muscle makes your skin look smoother and firmer. Replacing fat with muscle can also make cellulite less noticeable.

RADIOFREQUENCY

This is a type of treatment that heats the cellulite. Our Viora V-Form and V-ST are FDA-approved devices that combines bipolar radiofrequency with, suction, and massage in order to target cellulite. Click here to learn more about V-Form. Click here to learn more about V-ST.
